Power Play: Character is power

03 December 2012 Rose Herceg

Booker T. Washington said this and it couldn’t be truer.

The interesting thing about character is that it usually comes at a price.

It’s easy to talk character when it doesn’t cost you anything but character usually comes with some tough choices: telling a friend who works for you that they are doing a bad job or making a decision that isn’t very popular but is the right one to make.

Power Players are known as people of character, no matter how unpopular or controversial their decisions might be.

Because they are seen as people of character, they carry an air of power that is irrefutable. This is because Power Players never trade in their character for the popular decision.

People may not agree with their decision but they will admire them for making the right choice rather than the easy one.

This is why character is real power.
