Power Play: Nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent

22 January 2013 Rose Herceg

We all know someone who is incredibly talented but didn’t amount to anything is his or her life.

Talent doesn’t get you anywhere good. It only gives you a fat ego and nothing to show for it.

If a Power Player has to choose between a man with great talent and a great man (defined as someone who is disciplined and motivated) then they will always go for the latter.

Talent can sometimes be your worst enemy because it allows you to wing it rather than prepare for it. Because it allows you to cut corners knowing you can get away with it.

Power Players love talent but they are never fooled by it. Talent without follow-through is a waste of good talent.

Don’t be one of those cautionary tales each of us has heard about: the talented person with great potential who never really went anywhere.
