Shares higher on stimulus hopes: Afternoon market insights

The Australian sharemarket rose higher today as global markets were buoyed by anticipated stimulus from the Bank of England and the European Central Bank.

The ASX200 rose 1.04% to 4170.0, while the broader All Ordinaries index gained 1.06% to 4210.7.

The Australian dollar hit a two-month high today, buying $US1.02855.
