Why is the Jack Daniel's legal team so nice?

By now, you've probably heard about Jack Daniel's letter to author Patrick Wensink, whose book Broken Piano For President had a cover design that looked almost identical to the whiskey brand's label. If not, check out LeadingCompany's coverage from earlier this week, entitled The classiest cease and desist letter we’ve ever seen.

The whole scenario piqued the interest of Bloomberg BusinessWeek's Claire Suddath, who wondered why the Tennessee company’s legal team decided to be so nice about the whole thing.

She also discovered how the author in question reacted to the letter.
